A Muskoka Gazebo Spends the Winter Alone Under Snow
Cottage-country snow loads are heavier than in the city, and at a closed-up cottage nobody clears the roof. We size the rafters and beams for that, then anchor the posts: pinned into bedrock where the Shield is shallow, or on footings below a frost line of about 1.5 metres where there is soil.
Screens are the other half. By June a gazebo without them is a gazebo nobody sits in, so we frame for proper screen panels from the start.

- Your township's zoning controls how close a structure can sit to the water.
